Castel Malawi Limited has significantly increased the sponsorship package for the Castel Challenge Cup, raising it from last yearβs 350 million kwacha to an impressive 4 billion kwacha.
The announcement was made today during the draw for the tournament’s first phase, which involves teams from lower leagues. Castel Malawi Limited, in partnership with the Football Association of Malawi, expressed excitement for the upcoming competition.
Lavern Chitakata, Marketing Manager for Castel, emphasized the company’s commitment to grassroots football development. “We believe in nurturing talent from the ground up, and this sponsorship increment is a testament to our dedication to the sport,” Chitakata said.
Raphael Humba, Chairperson of the Southern Region Football Association, voiced optimism about the southern region teams’ prospects in this yearβs tournament. “We are confident that our teams will make a remarkable impact in the 2024 tournament,” Humba remarked.
The tournament’s official launch is scheduled for this weekend at Champions Stadium in Mponela, Dowa. The competition will feature 16 Super League teams and 99 teams from lower leagues.
