In an operation conducted on Thursday, Lilongwe Police apprehended Justin Sitima, a 40-year-old individual, for being found in possession of cannabis sativa without a permit.
According to Constable Khumbo Sanyiwa, the Assistant Public Relations Officer at Lilongwe Police Station, detectives from Chitsime Police Unit received information around 09:00 on the specified date. The tip indicated that Sitima possessed a 50-kilogram bag of cannabis sativa (Indian Hemp) at Katete Bus Stage, awaiting transportation to Salima.
Following a subsequent investigation, law enforcement discovered the suspect with a bag filled with loose cannabis sativa, leading to his immediate arrest.
Justin Sitima, a resident of Mnjale Village in Balaka District, will face charges for being found in possession of cannabis sativa without a license. He is expected to appear in court to answer to the charge.
