Heavy rains have left several households at Mponela in Dowa destitute following heavy after causing Kasangadzi river to flood yesterday washing away property and houses in the process.
According to o some victims from the area, the river had its banks burst following the heavy rains that fell upstream sweeping many houses and property in the area.
The victims are calling for the authorities to support them immediately as they have no where to put up.
On his part, Dowa District Commissioner Stallich Mwambiwa says officials from the district’s department of disaster management affairs are already on the ground to assess the extent of the damage.
