In a disappointing turn of events, Chitipa Hammers FC has been forced to forfeit their chance in the FAM Division One League final due to unforeseen transportation problems. The coach, Gift Chilonga, expressed his frustration in an interview with Avant Sports Desk, revealing that the team was unable to play the crucial return leg against Simbowe Stars FC on Saturday, November 18, 2023, at Mankhambira ground.
Chilonga disclosed that the team’s efforts to secure transportation to Nkhatabay proved futile, despite consulting various authorities, including the Chitipa District Commission (DC) office. This unfortunate setback has handed Simbowe Stars FC an unexpected ticket to the league final without even having to kick a ball.
As a result, Simbowe Stars FC is now set to face Karonga Giants in the much-anticipated FAM MOTO Division One League finals. The competition, sponsored by the Football Association of Malawi (FAM), boasts a significant K15 million sponsorship.
