Two Blantyre giants, Nyasa Big Bullets and Mighty Mukuru Wanderers are expected to participate in the Caf Competitions next season.
This comes after the Nomads defeated their neighbours to win the Airtel Top-8 Cup and they have chance of playing in the Caf Confederation Cup while Nyasa Big Bullets will participate in the bigger competition, Caf Champions League.
Mighty Mukuru Wanderers Club President, told the Nations Sport that they are willing to participate in the competition and they feel that they have a team capable of excelling in continental club competitions.
The Club’s President, Dr Thom Mpinganjira who is also the Board Chairperson said they will talk with their sponsors, Mukuru on their intention.
“We had to wait until the Airtel Top-8 Cup final and earn our participation. Now the next step is to talk with our sponsors, Mukuru,” he told the Nations Sport.
Blue Eagles also showed interests of participating in the Competition after finishing ad runners up in the league but failing to win a Cup placed them at disadvantageous position as a Club with at least a Cup has an advantage.
In 2019, two Malawian Clubs Masters Security and Nyasa Big Bullets took part in the Caf Confederation Cup and Champions league respectively but they were all booted out of the Competitions in the preliminary stage before Silver Strikers and Nyasa Big Bullets also sent out of the Competitions the following season.
The last time Mighty Mukuru Wanderers participated in the Continental Football was in 2018 after winning the league in 2017 but they were ruthlessly smashed by 6 goals to 1 on aggregate as they lost 4-0 to AS Vita in DRC before another 2-1 defeat at home.
Ahead of the next season, Mighty Mukuru Wanderers are trying to strengthen their squad and two players have already been signed and they are expected to sign another players by the end of this week.
