Police in Limbe, Blantyre, have arrested 36-year-old Steme Divason and Clement Gube aged 32, over a series of robberies in the Township.
Deputy Spokesperson for Limbe Police, Maxwell Jailos, said the police have also managed to recover some suspected stolen property worth over K1 million.
“Among others, during the time of arrest, we recovered two bicycles, one Lifo Motorcycle, a plasma screen and two N100 motor vehicle batteries, all valued at over K1 million,” said Jailos.
According to the Police Spokesperson, the suspects who are in police custody will appear before the court soon to answer robbery charges after the conclusion of police investigations.
Divason hails from Nsomba Village, Traditional Authority (T/A) Bwana Nyambi in Mangochi while Clement Gube hails from Mbiza Village T/A Mabuka in Mulanje.
The arrest comes as Limbe Police have introduced initiatives aimed at tightening security in the central business and surrounding areas. Some of the initiatives include My Phone My Zone and the installation of CCTV cameras.
