Lumbadzi Police in road traffic and crime prevention awareness campaign

Station Traffic Officer (STO) for Lumbadzi Police Assistant Superintendent Vincent Kachitsa has advised members of the community to use roadworthy vehicles when going for several activities.

He said this on Tuesday August 23,2022 at the headquarters of village headman Mpenda during the road traffic and crime prevention awareness campaign aimed at reducing road accidents and criminal cases in Lumbadzi’s jurisdictional.

In his remarks, Kachitsa reminded people who hire open vehicles such as lorries during trips of religional, traditional, cultural, school or sports that they will not be compensated in case of any road accident.

The STO also advised people with motorbikes to follow all road traffic regulations amongst them being insuring and registration for their motorcycles, benefits of wearing of crush helmets, exceeding and avoid giving children to drive motorcycles.

On her part, community policing coordinator Inspector Jane Mkangala condemned the practice of mob justice which is becoming common in Lumbadzi. “You should never take the law in your hands by assaulting or killing the suspected people, as this tendency disrupt proper flow of the case and witness. As you are eyes of Police, therefore apprehend and report all suspects to police”, advised Mkangala.

Mkangala also tackled much on sexual related offences and issues of gender based violence (gbv) where she advised women and girl child who are more vulnerable not to hesitate but to report such cases to police.

Mkangala further challenged men with cases of GBV and family issues not to suffer in silence or commit suicide but likewise to report to police for proper action or counseling.

Issues of great concern such as murder, general theft, suicide, gambling were also discussed.

On behalf of other chiefs and block leaders village headman Mpenda expressed his satisification to the police for conducting the awareness campaign in his area citing them as an eye-opener and educative to his subjects. He promised to mobilize his subjects to work hand in hand with police in the fight against road accidents and crimes in order to make Lumbadzi a safe and secured area.

The awareness campaigns are on-going until all villages in Lumbadzi Police Station territory are reached with traffic management, security tips and crime prevention messages.
