Two men commit sucide in Kasungu

Two people identified as Malizani Maliko, 30 and Elemia Saka, 60, have terminated their lives in separate scenarios in Kasungu District.

Maliko who was an epileptic patient on July 31, 2022 left the house furiously after his parents warned him to stop the tendency of returning home during odd hours a thing which upset him.

The following day, Maliko was found dead, while hanging in a tree by a certain woman who was fetching firewood at Chipezeyani Village in Traditional Authority Santhe in the district.

It is also reported that the same day, Saka(second deceased) left his house to unknown destination after he picked a quarrel with his wife suspecting her of having an affair with another man and was later found hanging in a tree by a passerby in a nearby graveyard at Kayembe Village.

Police and medical personnel visited both scene of incidents where it was indicated that both succumbed due to suffocation.

Police in Kasungu are concerned with the rising of suicide cases and are therefore appealing to the public to refrain from taking their own lives whenever they face challenges in life. They should rather seek counselling or share issues to colleagues.

Maliko hailed from Chipezeyani Village, Traditional Authority Santhe while Saka was from Kayembe Village, Traditional Authority Mwase in Kasungu.
