KAWALE POLICE ADDRESSES RESIDENTS ON STRONG SECURITY MEASURES

Kawale police station has appealed to local residents as well as business people to take part in the fight against crime in order to create a safe living environment.

The call was made on Saturday, the 16th of July 2022 on a road show organized by Kawale Police in corroboration with area 23 and 24 police units as a way of directly addressing residents of the surrounding areas.

The tour which started from Kawale Police Station made stops at center point Bar in area 24, Ngwenya market, Tank, Maliselo market and Chilinde. During the tour, Traffic Sergeant Chiyani, Detective Sergeant Maganga and Sergeant Juma advised the public to make sure they lock up their households before leaving and have some trusted people to look after their houses while they are away in order to prevent further theft cases.

Speaking at center point bar in area 24, Detective Sergeant Gloria Maganga asked bar owners to report any suspicious individuals to the police saying most robbers use enjoyment places like bars as hiding place.

She further cautioned the public to refrain from beating or killing any caught thieves saying the law prohibits killing and those who kill shall be answerable to the law.

Victim support unit officer Sergeant Juma called for a collective effort from parents in order to ensure that children’s rights are not violated.

Couples are also advised to visit the police station whenever they are faced with challenges as one way of preventing gender based violence cases.

Kawale Police assures citizens that it is devoted to serve the people so as to create a better Malawi. However, as the people expect the police to provide them with security, let them be reminded that it all begins with them and they also have a responsibility to uphold in the process.
