As one way of cementing relationship and increasing awareness to community members, Lumbadzi Police Station on Wednesday, May 25, 2022 used sporting activities as a platform of preaching crime prevention and security messages at Mwalala village where the station played both netball and football matches with Nkhalamba teams.
Station Officer for Lumbadzi Police Station, Senior Superintendent Herbert Njolwa called upon police officers at the formation to take sporting activities as a routine for them to remain physically fit and use it as a key to coordinate with members of community by bringing criminal activities at bay.
Njolwa who is responsible for the management of crime utilized the platform by challenging community members not to take laws into their own hands but instead should report all suspects to the police.
On her part, coordinator for Community Policing Branch, Inspector Jane Mkangala echoed Njolwa’s sentiments by urging community members not to practice mob justice.
Mkangala further shared messages of farm gate prices, gender based violence, general theft just to mention but a few.
Spicing up the event, there was football and netball matches whereby Lumbadzi Police Station triumphed with 10 to 8 goals in netball and the game in football ended in stalemate with 2 – 2 goals.
On behalf of other chiefs, goup village headman Mwalala (Louis Chakumoto) hailed the station for the initiative citing that it will help to attract community members to receive crime prevention and security related tips as it has been prooved that alot of people nowadays like sporting activities.
