Kawale Police registers crime decrease

Kawale Police Station has registered a decrease in crime by 45.4 percent in the first four months of 2022.

The station has also recorded a decrease in road accidents by 78 percent from 137 to 30 in the same period from January to April whilst maintaining fatal road accidents at 3.

A crime quarterly report released by the Station’s Research and Planning officer Sub Inspector Thandizo Chimganda said the 45.4 percent decrease in crime was registered from January to April 2022.

In the same period in 2021, a total number of 465 criminal cases were recorded while in 2022 the station has registered 254 cases representing a 45.4 percent crime decrease.

The station has also recorded a 52.9 percent decrease in robbery cases from 68 cases in 2021 to 32 cases this year which has been attributed by intensive sweeping exercises.

The report also shows that sexual offences have gone down from 21 cases in 2021 to 8 cases decreased by 61%.

Furthermore, the station has reduced murder cases by 54 percent this year.

In 2021, 11 cases were registered compared to 6 cases of murder which have been reported this year, among the 6 cases reported three were influenced by mob killing .

The report has also revealed the accident prone areas which the station has put much emphasis to tame recurring of the same.

The station is assuring the public that they will continue with the measures like sweeping exercises, police visibility and community involvement in security issues to make Kawale a safe haven.

Therefore, police wishes to extend their gratitude to all stakeholders and members of the public for their support in fighting against crime.
