Police in Zomba are keeping in custody George Solomon and five others for breaking into houses where they stole assorted items in two separate incidents.
According to Zomba Police Public Relations Officer, Patricia Sipiliano, on October 10, 2021, the suspects broke into the house of Betty Zimba and went away with assorted items worth K820 thousand.
These include three laptops, two solar panels, two solar lamps, one solar torch and a bunch of keys.
On November 28, 2021, police also received a complaint from Mphatso Kwijoma that his house got broken into and assorted household items valued at K980,000 got stolen by unknown criminals.
Following the reports, police instituted investigations and on May 4, 2022, they managed to arrest the said six suspects and recovered some of the stolen items.
The suspects were found at different locations whilst offering for sale suspected stolen properties.
Among items recovered are; three laptops, 5 plasma screens, two solar panels, two solar torches and a bunch of keys that have been identified by the owners.
The suspects are expected to appear before the court of law to answer burglary and theft charges.
