Ntcheu Police arrest four over theft

In Ntcheu, Police have arrested four men for allegedly stealing 213 railway slippers valued at K15, 975,000.00 belonging to Central African Railways.

The incident occurred on January 19, 2022 at about 0200hrs at Sharpvalley Station site.

The four have been identified as Paul Simkonda 37, Bester Makalani 27, Emmanuel Henry 26 and 40 year old Victor Makwelero.

On this particular day, Police received information of the stolen load. Immediately a follow up was made and snap blocks were mounted, leading to the apprehension and detention of the suspects and the loaded motor vehicle, Hino Fuso fighter, registration number CK 190, at Kasinje turn off as the four failed to produce supporting documents after being asked to do so.

The four will appear in court soon to answer charges of theft which is contrary to Section 271 of the Penal Code.

Police in the district are advising the public to refrain from vandalising and stealing railway parts as the malpractice poses danger to people travelling by rail.
