FLAMES MISSES FIRST FRIENDLY MATCH

The Malawi National Football Team (Flames) is currently camping in Saudi Arabia a head of African Cup of Nations games slated to commence on January 9, 2022 in Cameroon.

Malawi is expected to be in Saudi Arabia for 10 days before traveling to Cameroon on January 6, 2022.

As arranged Flames was supposed to play a friendly match with Mali on Thursday December 30, but due to late arrival of Mali in Saudi Arabia the match has been postponed.

The team’s next friendly match will be against Comoros on January 4.

On a sad note, Flames striker Schumacher Kuwali has been ruled out of the 2021 African Cup of Nations due to his thigh injury sustained at the ongoing training in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia.

According to the team Doctor, Gift Ligomeka, Kuwali tore his right thigh muscles on Monday afternoon and he will need three weeks to recover.
