Police in Kawale have taken into its custody a 39-year-old driver, Alfonso Linde of Kakhome Village, Traditional Authority Kaphuka in Dedza for attacking a Traffic Officer (name withheld).
The incident that occurred on 16th August, 2025.around 19:00 hours.
It is on record that on the material day, the Traffic Officer was assigned on night shift at Kawale Traffic control base. And in course of service delivery, a report was received that at Chipasula road junction there was a Traffic Road Accident. As a procedure the Traffic Officer visited the scene and all the necessary steps were followed to clear the road for normal traffic flow and further statement taking.
And in the way he gave excuses that the car has developed a fault which did not work out.
Approaching the summit junction he attacked the officer, and forcefuly opened the passengers door while in motion, he pushed the officer outside causing him to fall on the road.
After doing this he spade off, due to this the officer sustained various injuries including a fractured arm.
Well-wishers found him unconscious and took him to Kamuzu Central Hospital.
And today, November 29, 2025, the suspect was spotted driving the same car passing winners chapel check point going Share world direction.
Eventually a follow up was made and arrested him at Biwi business hub.
The suspect will be taken to court soon to answer charges of Acts intended to cause grievous harm and giving false information.
