Two Security Guards arrested over breaking offences, items worthy millions recovered

In Kawale, police have taken into its custody two Security Guards for breaking into Maranet warehouse in area 22 which belongs to Mr Kondwani Nyirenda and stole brand new tyres worthy millions of Malawi Kwacha.

The duo, identified as Asafa Ali 45, Hassan Jalasi 51.

Kawale Police got information from well wishers that in a certain house some individuals were keeping valuable items, tyres.

Following the tip-off, the Station Criminal Investigations Officer (SCIO) and Area 24 detectives managed to hit the scene where tangible information was obtained that led to the arrest of the two security guards, and a recovery of 26 stolen tyres.

Meanwhile, Police have managed to locate the owner, uncover the modus used and are yet to quantify total number of tyres stolen in the warehouse which exceeds 137, done in 6 theft invasions.

Police have since seized some of the properties acquired from the crime proceeds, like brand new motorcycle and Iron sheet.

The two will appear before court soon to answer the charges of breaking into a building and committing a felony there in which contradicts section 311 of Penal Code.

Asafa hails from Mpondasi Village in the area of Traditional Authority Mpondasi in Mangochi while Hassan comes from Makokola Village , Traditional Authority Tambala in Dedza.
