SALIMA SUGAR COMPANY SCORES POORLY ON COMMUNICATION

The much controversial company in Salima, that went a talk of the Town and Malawi in general, has yet again amazed it’s workers.

The mighty wanderers sponsor company, has restored its normal operations hours ago without notifying its workers in advance on the Development.

Our reporters have gathered that the company advised its workers to return to work on the night of 3rd June 2021 without proper clarification on their welfare as inline with the Presidential task force recommendations to prevent the spread of COVID-19.

“Yes! We have been told to return to our duty stations, however we are not given face masks, sanitizers or hand washing facilities.” Worriedly explained one of its employees

The staff has urged the management to clear their fears and comply with COVID-19 preventive measures.

Avantmalawi remain confused how could the same company assure the general public on it’s Facebook page to comply with COVID19 preventive measures as quoted below,

“We are pleased to inform all our stakeholders that the Government has lifted the ban on all factory operations following our compliance to all measures on Covid 19 and the recovery of our employees that were affected.Operations resumes today

We would like to thank the Honourable Minister of Health,Management of Ministry of Health and the Salima District Health Office for the support and guidance that led to our resuming operations

We remain a Covid 19 compliant organisation and shall continue to observe all measures as we normally do and as we serve our customers” end of quote.

And on the other hand turn blind to the welfare of it’s employees.

The Development comes after Ministry of health temporarily closed the company a month ago in paving way to self isolation of all the workers who were exposed to COVID-19 patients who came from India.
