Member of Parliament for Nsanje Central constituency, Kafandikhale Mandevana has from March 23 to 25 this month, donated 3487 bags of maize to several people affected by this year’s floods in his constiuency of Traditional Authority (T/A) Tengani in Nsanje District in a bid to put them back on their feet.
Speaking in an interview after the donation, Mandevana said the humanitarian assistance was part of his flood relief project which he embarked on as soon as the floods hit the country in March this year.
He said “since March 23, 2022, I have been providing relief items such as food and many more to 18 flood camps which are in my constituency to lessen their suffering and support their recovery from the disaster.”
Mandevana further said, “it is humbling to give back to our communities the little we have to make life better,” he said.
Group village head (GVH) Kachere of the area hailed the Hon MP for his continued support to flood victims.
“Now children in my area eat porridge in the morning, courtesy of the Honorable Member of Parliament.”

One of the beneficiaries, Harold Maliki from GVH Chitsa in T/A Tengani thanked Mandevana for the donation, saying it came at a time as he had no food in his family.
Currently, the Law maker has reached out to camps such as Nyamithuthu, Mtondo, Kachere,Mphamba, Mtolongo, Mgoza, Mguda,Ndiola,Nyamula and Kailedzi.
