Police in Kawale, Lilongwe have taken into its custody a 30- year-old man, Elias Chepetsani over motorcycle robbery.
The incident occurred on December 30,2025 around 22:00 hours at M1 center point.
The suspect, together with his accomplice posed as customers, they hired unsuspected Kabaza Operator, Phillip Jamali at Area 23 rank claiming to pick a parcel within Area 36 location and upon reaching Pakkeza warehouses opposite M1 center point, the duo attacked the victim, hit him on his forehead using an object believed to be a metal bar and went away with Lifan motorcycle blue in color.
The matter was reported at Kawale Police where a case against unknown criminals was opened, officers visited the scene instantly where they observed marks of violence which led the suspect dropping a laptop bag that contained some artifacts which gave a clue to investigators.
The able detectives managed to trace the suspect hence his subsequent arrest on January 14, 2026. During interogations he admitted that the said bag and it’s contents are his, and to consolidate the evidence gathered the victim was invited who positively identified him as his customer before the attack.
Meanwhile, investigations are underway to arrest his accomplice who is at large and recover the stolen motorcycle.
His arrest has positively uncover his involvement in a series of robberies in a similar fashion and will bring to conclusion some outstanding files.
