The Department of Meteorology and Climate Change has said that heavy rains are expected in the Southern and Central parts of the country between Monday and Friday this week.
The department says this is as a result of the influence of the Intertropical Convergence zone which is going to affect the country up to the 3rd of March.
The department has also issued a warning that the country is expecting floods in the areas along the shores of Lake Malawi like in Karonga and Salima and some other low lying areas.
This development comes while some areas have been experiencing serious dry spells especially in the southern and Central regions of the country
