Heavyweight boxer Anthony Joshua has been injured in a car crash that has killed two people in Nigeria.

Local authorities have confirmed Joshua is doing ‘fine’ after being taken to hospital to be treated for minor injuries, as per the BBC.

It remains unclear at this time the identities of the two individuals who have died after the tragic incident on the Ogun–Lagos state expressway on Monday (December 29).

Joshua, who is born in the UK, has family roots in Sagamu, a town in Ogun State of Nigeria, the BBC have said.

The 36-year-old is the son of British-Nigerian parents, having said in the past: “I’m proudly Nigerian and proudly British.”

Eddie Hearn, Joshua’s promoter, has spoken to the Daily Mail, saying: “I am away on a family holiday and awoke to the news of this incident.
