THE MAU ANGA HERO SLEEPS

Thomas Chibade AKA Chekhumba was born in 1986 and dies at 37 years on Wednesday at Kamuzu Central Hospital.

The mau anga hit maker originally comes from Nasawa at senior Chief Chikowi, Zomba.

He entertained millions of Malawians through his music. One of his songs goes like this, “Ndikapume kumanda,koma amayi kuno kumanda munakadziwa kuli moto chonde musabwere,” Thats Thomas Chibade.

Thomas was one of the famous musicians,who stormed Malawi music industry by storm in 2005.

One his famous hit which everyone from the elderly, Children knew was, “Awa ndiye mau anga mvetsera ndikuwuze ine ndiye ndakukonda osati sewero.”

From 2005 to 2008 Chibade was a well known person in the society that everywhere he goes people were greeting him, praising him, scrambling to have a selfie with him.

However, things turned sour for Chibade from 2010 to 2023 when his music career met several hiccups.

The talented musician,who was that particular time residing in Zomba moved to Lilongwe in area 25.

People forgot about him and the only time he appeared to the public was on social media through videos taken by some people.

For instance, so many people used to film him asking for help,as he looked to be struggling financially.

At one point in time, some people filmed Chibade drunk,while sleeping in one of the dusty roads in area 25.

As time goes by, Mibawa Television brought Chibade on their station on one saturday to remind the nation on his music talent.

He perfomed some of his hits,and Malawians cheered on him.

However, Chibade also popularly known as Chenkhumba went missing to the public only to hear of his demise on Wedneaday.

Yes…Chibade is gone…..Chibade has joined the likes of Martse, Atoti Manje, Mafunyeta, Matafale, Msamude, Gift, Grace Chinga, Vic Marley.

As we are posting this the remains of Chibade are in the cooler at Kamuzu central Hospital mortuary.

He is all alone in those freezing machines waiting to be escorted to his final resting place 6 ft under the ground.

Chibade will be laid to rest on Saturday at his home village in the former capital city of Malawi,Zomba.
