MUSICIANS IN MALAWI MOURNS ACHALUME HIT MAKER

Tributes are pouring in for musician WalyCris Wanyengo who has died in a head-on collision as he was coming back from South Africa where he went to perform alongside Zembani Band.

One of the concert promoters in South Africa, Don Zaggah, narrated that Wanyengo met his fate in Zimbabwe as he was heading to Lilongwe to perform over the festive season.

“Sadly it’s true. We received the news around 4 am. He boarded a bus to Lilongwe while other Zembani Band members boarded another bus as they were heading to Blantyre so they used different buses,” narrated Zaggah.

Musicians have since taken to social media to mourn one of the fastest-rising artists who shot to fame with the song Achalume done in Yao language.

Dr Lazarus Chakwera, led thousands of Malawians in a minute of silence to honor the death of WalyCris as he was presiding over the inauguration of the 2022/2023 National Forestry Season at Mangochi Palm Forest Reserve

Meanwhile, burial arrangements are not known as we went to report the story.
