Peter Mponda Elevated to Head Coach Role at South Africa’s Black Leopards

In a recent development, former Flames Captain Peter Mponda has received a promotion to the position of Head Coach for South Africa’s first division team, Black Leopards. This change comes in the wake of the dismissal of the previous coach, Spaniard Alejandro Dorado, earlier this week. Mponda had been serving as Dorado’s deputy.

Dorado’s termination came as a result of the team’s disappointing performance at the start of the new season, which included three losses and one draw. These results left the team in a precarious position, ranking second from the bottom in the second-tier division.

Mponda’s inaugural match as Head Coach will take place this Saturday against Upington City. Notably, Mponda has a history with the Black Leopards, having played for the club from 2004 to 2010. His return to the team occurred in June of this year, following his departure from FCB Nyasa Big Bullets, where he had been serving as an assistant coach.
