The third Airtel Top 8 quarterfinal ended in a goalless draw between hosts Mzuzu City Hammers FC and Civil Service United FC at Mzuzu Stadium on Sunday, 20 April 2025.
The match offered few goal‑scoring opportunities, as both sides struggled to entertain the spectators.
Civil Service United dominated the first half, although both teams relied heavily on aerial balls due to the slippery playing surface.
Speaking after the match, Mzuzu City Hammers FC coach Steven Nkunika said his side was unable to play their usual game because of the muddy pitch.
Nkunika added that he is confident his team can turn things around in the return leg, having identified both the strengths and weaknesses of Civil Service United FC.

Meanwhile, Civil Service United FC coach Abbas Makawa said his team was under pressure, having suffered back‑to‑back defeats in the Super League.
Makawa noted that earning a draw away from home was not a bad result and added that they would go all out in the second leg, especially with the advantage of playing on home ground.
Erick Kaonga of Mzuzu City Hammers FC was voted Player of the Match.
In another quarterfinal fixture, Silver Strikers FC will face Moyale Barracks FC at Silver Stadium in Lilongwe on Monday, 21 April 2025.
