Blantyre city Mayor His Worship Councilor Wild Ndipo, has received the Birmingham 2022 Queen’s Baton Relay at the Civic Centre offices on Tuesday afternoon.
Earlier, the Vice President Saulos Chilima received the baton on behalf of Malawians at Chileka airport.
The Queen’s Baton, which carries a message from Her Majesty, The Queen, is in the country as part of its journey to the Birmingham 2022 Commonwealth Games, which will be held in England in August next year.
Also present during the event was Malawi Commonwealth Games Association president Japie Mhango, Councilors and other dignatories.
The event is being characterised by different performances and theme for the 2022 commonwealth games is: Sustainable Youth inclusion and Culture.
