Hotel donates to Mangochi Police

Mangochi based, Fort Johnstone Hotel has donated barriers and two solar panels worth thousands of kwachas to M’baluku Roadblock in Mangochi to help improve service delivery at the station.

The donation comes following a request the police station management made to the hotel after community members vandalised the roadblock two years ago.

Speaking during the hand over ceremony on Monday, August 30, 2021 hotel’s representative, Amos Mkandawire said the hotel’s management was satisfied with the services of Police in Mangochi hence they decided to honor the request by giving the roadblock a new look.

He said: “Our management was very happy to be approached by the neighbour on the need to support. This is a clear indication of the good working relationship that exists between the two of us.”

Mkandawire then commended the Police visibility in the area saying this has enhanced security and has helped thwart impending criminal activities in the area.

Mangochi Police Station Officer In-charge Senior Assistant Commissioner, Francis Chisoti thanked the hotel management for the donation which he described it as timely.

Chisoti said the donation will go a long way in reducing workload and traffic congestion usually experienced at the roadblock.

He said: “Officers were finding it challenging to work at night without lights but now that is a thing of the past. This will greatly improve our efficiency.”

M’baluku is one of the busiest roadblock in Mangochi.
