Ring leader of street children in Limbe caused commotion in the town when he tried to jump from a police vehicle following his arrest for being found loitering at the market without wearing a mask.
Sources at Limbe Market said police officers are enforcing COVID-19 preventive measures, a campaign known as ‘Operation Vala Mask’.
Friends of the arrested man started pelting stones while he tried to jump from the moving vehicle.
Police managed to get hold of him while cruising away to Limbe Police Station to keep him in custody.
The scenario became out of hand as police officers were (on the other hand) running in rescue for their dear lives. A video circulating on social media shows an angry mob chasing police officers
When contacted, Deputy Police Spokesperson for Limbe, Widson Nlhane refered our reporters to National Police Spokesperson, James Kadazera.
Kadazera said he was compiling a statement on the same.
