GERMAN AMBASSADOR BIDS FAREWELL TO MALAWI

His Excellency Jurgen Borsch, outgoing Ambassador of the Federal Republic of Germany has bid farewell to Malawi after finishing his tour of duty. HE Borsch bade his farewell during a courtesy call which he paid on Honourable Eisenhower Mkaka, M.P., Minister of Foreign Affairs, on Tuesday, 29th June, 2021.

In his remarks, Honourable Mkaka expressed his gratitude to the Federal Republic of Germany and to Ambassador Borsch for his service to Malawi. The Minister stated that Ambassador Borsch’s tour of duty helped to deepen the relationship between Germany and Malawi as he played an advocate role for Malawi, more especially during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Honourable Mkaka also stated that the Government of Malawi is ready to work and provide support to the incoming German Ambassador as a continuation of the cordial relations that exist between the two countries.

On his part, Ambassador Borsch thanked Honourable Mkaka and the Government of Malawi for their gratitude towards his service. He further commended Malawi and SADC for holding a successful meeting in Maputo, Mozambique, noting that the organization has taken an important task in ensuring peace and security in Cabo Delgado province, Mozambique.

His Excellency Jurgen Borsch, has served as Federal Republic of German Ambassador to Malawi for 5 years. His Successor is already in the country and is expected to present his letters of Credence to His Excellency Dr. Lazarus McCarthy Chakwera President of the Republic of Malawi tomorrow.
