Police dates Bwananyambi 8 community on safety and security

In a bid to strengthen good relationship between Police and members of the public, Eastern Region Senior Deputy Commissioner of Police, Dennis Chipao has called on communities and reiterated the need for collaboration on security.

He made the call during the meeting he presided over on June 26, 2021 at Mkumba Primary School under Traditional Authority Bwananyambi in Mangochi.

Chipao assured members of the community of continued engagements to security implementations in the district.

“Security is paramount to the development of communities, and Malawi as a country, since investors prefer secured areas for their investments. Security matters should not be left in the hands of Police, but members of the community should play their part too,” said Chipao.

With a glamorous smile on his face, Chipao exploded good news to the gathering about the Police unit to be constructed in the area by a well-wisher who has opted for anonymity.

Chipao also warned the gathering against stealing building materials once the project starts, and to refrain from mob justice as well as harbouring criminals. Police is committed to building bridges leading in the forefront of protecting every citizen.

“I again urge you to stop attacking persons with albinism, refrain from human trafficking and taking the law into your own hands by killing or injuring suspected criminals” warned Chipao.

In her remarks, Regional Community Policing Coordinator Superintendent Memory Mgeni warned men against sexually abusing women and girls especially step daughters. “l also encourage you my fellow women not to conceal sexual abuses,” said Mgeni.

Representing the traditional leaders, T/A Bwananyambi expressed her gratitude about the planned Police unit in her area.

She further commended the well-wisher for the good gesture, saying her subordinates will be relieved as they now walk long distance to find the only Police unit, Masuku, in the area.

The meeting brought together various chiefs under T/A Bwananyambi, estate representatives and community policing forum members and Malawi Police Orchestra Band spiced up the event through live performances.
