Controversial 6.2 billion audit report on Covid19 funds, raises eyebrows

The much awaited audit report into the controversial 6.2 billion kwacha COVID-19 funds has been sent to Treasury, Office of the President and Cabinet and Speaker of Parliament.

National Audit Office Spokesperson Rabson Kagwam’minga has confirmed the development this morning.

Response made by The presidential secretary Brian Banda through the State House weekly address to the media’s questions. He said “On 6.2billion as soon as the nation audit office finalizes the report, relevant authorities will hand over the report to the office of the president. But as of now further questions must be directed to National audit office.”

Meanwhile, government spokesperson, Gospel Kazako has asked for more time before commenting on how soon the report will be made public.

On 21 February this year, President Lazarus Chakwera instituted the audit amid suspicions of pandemic funds abuse.
