“After my father’s death my life went into low moments, I felt a huge gap in me” Hon Billy Kaunda responded to our reporters when asked the rationale behind writing the book.
Hon Kaunda, who is a politician and a musician came into lime light in the 90’s with Mwapindulanji, a song which left Malawians in tears and thirsty for more hits.
We knew hon Kaunda as a Musician, yet he is multi-talented as he is launching autobiography, ‘Hills and Valley’s.’
Avantmalawi was interested to learn more, as Hon Kaunda could not hide his emotions rather opened up – to why he wrote the book.

“Despite alcoholism and eventual abandonment of the family in his last days when he ventured into Tobacco farming. My father was someone who had been the pillar of our lives to end up dying like that, away from us, was unthought-of and it caught me and the entire family off guard. All emotions were therefore drained into the song and that is why in the heat of the moment accusations started coming out. One of them was when I sung about an uncle who was responsible for the death… Our family still does not know the poison that was used on him but he vomited blood from it, and when he died his body turned so black and swollen that we even wondered if it was him or someone else who was in the coffin.” He narrated the story with tears in his eyes
