RAIPLY TALKS BRIQUETTE

Raiply Malawi Limited says it is in a process of constructing a briquette making factory at its campus in Mzimba District.

Raiply’s Public Relations Officer, Dalitso Chimwala, disclosed this during a media tour the company organised.

Chimwala said the new factory wing will assist in the creation of more jobs for Malawians.

During the visit, journalists wondered why the company was not harvesting some trees which matured sometime back.

In his response, Chimwala said the trees were earmarked as raw material for briquette making.

“These trees you see behind me were not pruned and thinned so they’re not big enough for making planks. These have been reserved for briquette making,” explained Chimwala.

And Raiply’s Forest Manager Nathaniel Nthala said the company has planted trees n 1048 hectares of its land surpassing its target figure by about 4.8 percent.

Nthala said apart from the tree planting exercise, the company has distributed over 50,000 tree seedlings to the community as a way of encouraging people to plant and own trees.

“Apart from making planks and money, trees assist us with fresh air and also conserve water. So we want everyone to plant and own trees around the homes,” advised Nthala.

Apart from planting trees for its wood products, the company has also planted Mulanje Cider and other tree varieties in river sources to conserve water as part of its social corporate responsibility.
