WOMAN IN VIRAL VIDEO SEEN BRUTALIZING A CHILD IS AN EX CONVICT PATIENCE UWIMANA

The police in Uganda have identified the 25-year-old woman captured in a video brutalizing a five-year-old as Patience Uwimana.

According to the police, the woman was recently released from Kisoro Prison for attempted murder.

The incident that went viral earlier in the week reportedly took place at the Bwuuma zone, Lwengo District in Uganda.

The suspect is in the run but efforts to apprehend her are ongoing, the AIGP Asan Kasingye said.

“The suspect is on the run. She will be arrested,” Kasingye said in a tweet.

The Ugandan government had earlier asked members of the public to provide information that might help in the identification and arrest of the woman.

“The government of Uganda doesn’t and will never tolerate abuse of children’s rights. Any leads to this heartless woman are welcome,” Minister of ICT Judith Nabakooba said on Thursday as reported by the Daily Monitor.

In a video that has since gone viral in Uganda, the woman is heard speaking Luganda, a local dialect as she brutally beat up the boy in the video.

In the video, the woman is seen canning the young boy before stepping on his chest.

The video angered many netizens, with some asking for the arrest of the woman and the person who recorded the video.
