MALAWI ASSEMBLIES OF GOD PRESS SUFFOCATES ITS EMPLOYEES

Assemblies of God is a reputable press organization, 70 years of operational with about thirty employees on board. It is situated in Kanjeza, Blantyre.

Like any other organization, it has board of directors who evaluate it’s day to day activities and give direction where necessary . The managerial position comprises of the President of Malawi Assemblies of God, National board of Directors for Malawi Assemblies of God and an employed manager on permanent contract.

Avantmalawi has gathered so far the Press made great slides of profits under management of Mr Zungeni who was later succeeded by Mr Matoga and Mr Milanzi respectively. During Dr Lazarus Chakwera era the organization was able to pay tithes to it’s headquarters quarterly, pay renumeration to it’s employees and run it’s day to day activities without problems quite contrary to what we see now.

Around 80’s and 90’s the press was at par with Blantyre Print, which by then Assemblies of God Press sealed deals with Chancellor college, FAM gate, the government just to mention a few.

To date the press has strong machinery that enables in printing books, dictionaries, calendars, banners, tracks just a few in mention. However, our reporters gathers since last year the financial book of Assemblies of God has minimal returns to account for.

As we were reporting the press has failed paying it’s workers for close to seven months, internal reports Indicates most of it’s assets went snatched by sherriffs due to unpaid debts in it’s financial position, a development unpleasant to occur to a big organization which is under the mother Pentecostal church.

Avantmalawi has gathered that the National board of Directors ruled out paying off it’s debts as they claim the press is a limited company to the Church. Surprisingly, the Assemblies of God Church or the Malawi Assemblies of God University can not bail out the Assemblies of God Press from it’s debts.

Avanti was forced not to remain quite but to dig into the silence of it’s management to rescue most employees who run day and night suffocating their families to starvation as they go unpaid for months.

Talking to some of the workers, they believe they can turn the company into profit making if all debts are settled and management plus the Church comes to it’s rescue
