Kawale Police triumphs over Festive crimes and road accidents.

A crime free zone brings pride and joy to every citizen of good will and it brings cerebration to the People who are charged with the responsibility of providing security.

For to many, this day is the right moment to be on vacation leaving homes prone to bandits while to others, is the right season to chill with friends in different places and fill the motor way with drunk drivers who also contribute to the increase of fatal road accidents.

In view of this, the Officer in-charge of Kawale Police, Mr Almakio Paul Daka, Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP), took a responsibility to create this festive season free from accidents and robberies.

A comprehensive approach was made and various strategies were put in place to cover its Policing area using its lower formations and Kawale proper.

As we were drawing closer to the festive season, awareness was set as one tool to be used through the community Policing branch led by the coordinator Inspector Thoko Mkwezalamba.

To ensure that there is maximum message delivery, the team went on a mobile senstisation campaign which targeted market places, residential areas and all road networks that connects Kawale residential area and its lower formations.

Drivers, road users , business owners and residents were all reached through whistle stops and road show tour .

As this was not enough, Kawale’s top boss also instructed his subbordinates to embark on an intensive foot and vehicle patrols, day and night as another strategy.

The teams were under the direct command of Operations Officer, Superintendent Limbani Bekete and Sub Inspector Mac Donald Kasanga.

The Operation Commanders were seen on foot Patrol in the corridors of Kawale, and at times, in vehicle patrol as well as conducting snap road blocks day and night.

The zone commander, Inspector Patrick Suluti, led the rapid response teams on ground, doing the needful, responding to any acts that need immediate remedy and Patrolling the area.

CID personel led by Supritendant Getrude Chonzi, were all over the ground monitoring situation and gathering information tirelessly.

This enabled the team to intercept motor vehicle loaded with 156 kilograms of Cannabis sativa and uncover farms planted with the Indian Hemp.

However, there were some festive related cases that were hectic to Kawale Police, such as: Unlawful Wounding, general Theft and breaking offences.

The Officer in-charge of Kawale Police, Mr Almakio PG Daka, and the Station Officer Supritendant Aggrey Khonje, were at liberty not only to monitor the situation through the cameras, but rather to join the band wagon and lead both foot and vehicle patrol teams.

Traffic checks were one of the most effective way, traffic police officers put in place to ensure that the area records a decrease in road accidents.

The Station Traffic Officer (STO), Assistance Superitendant Rodreck Kansikili, moved in and support the passion and vision that the Officer in-charge had, by ensuring that all traffic officers under his command conducts road traffic checks and motorcycle patrol day and night .

Today January 4, 2021, after labouring with passion and determination, team Kawale has triumphed over accidents that claim lives of much needed citizens and robberies that cause citizens to loose valuable property.

During the festive season of 2020, Kawale has recorded a 33.3 percent decrease in road accidents as compared to the same festive season in 2019.

Statistics indicates that Kawale traffic had registered 595 road accidents in the year 2020 as compared to 749 road accidents recorded during the same period in 2019. This represent 20.6 percent decrease in road accidents annually.

Speaking after the festive season, the Officer in-charge Mr Daka was grateful for the spirit demonstrated by Police Officers.

“Above all I am grateful to the Almighty God for being to our side and is the one who has given us this victory.”Said Daka.
