HRDC has given a 50% score to Tonse Alliance for its performance in the first six months.

The group says the Administration is a very slow government which takes ages to make key decisions.

On corruption, HRDC says it will direct its focus on corruption in the new administration.

The group has further urged Whistle-blowers to start furnishing HRDC with the rot and bribes in the Tonse Administration.

HERE GATHERED THE TONSE ADMINISTRATION HAS ACHIEVED

Chakwera Administration Successes over the past 6 months*
By December 31, Chakwera’s Administration will have clocked 186 days. The President has been given a mandate to govern Malawi for 5 years, which by calculation of days is almost 2000 days. Malawians gave him a mandate to fulfill his Super Hi-5 Manifesto. Here are some of the things he has accomplished in just 186 days, of those 2000 days. This list is not exhaustive.

  1. HE launched the Affordable Inputs Programme (AIP), which provides a 50kg bag of fertilizer at K4,495. Right now, over 2 million families have benefitted, which represent over 8 million individuals.
  2. HE has lifted the PAYE taxation threshold to K100,000.
  3. HE has raised the minimum wage to K50,000 per month.
  4. HE has raised the funds for MEDF loans from 40 billion to 75 billion and has also rebranded the organization from MEDF to NEEF.
  5. HE has directed that the quarter system of University selection should stop.
  6. HE has signed trade agreements with South Africa, Tanzania, Zimbabwe and Mozambique
  7. HE has secured funding for the Urban Social Cash Transfer that will cushion 185,000 households against economic shocks.
  8. HE negotiated, through the Minister of information, the reduction of data bundles.
  9. HE increased funding for the Anti-Corruption Bureau and made the body totally independent.
  10. HE reversed the removal of the Army Genera which was based on politics and not the rule of law.
  11. HE established a task force to look specifically into the issue of women and child abuse and sexual harassment also dissolved 3098 child marriages.
  12. HE has developed Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) for the delivery of manifesto promises by MDAs.
  13. HE has embarked on concrete and tangible reforms in all sectors of government and developed a blue print with which he will use to assess all cabinet minister’s performance.
  14. HE at a recent fundraising dinner event, with the business captains of the country, held at Sanjika Palace, raised over 1 billion Kwacha as seed money to build 35 high class secondary school in all the districts of the country.
  15. HE has recruited 76 Nutritionists across the country to lead efforts to eradicate all forms of malnutrition.
  16. HE launched the National-Clean-Up day which will be observed on the second Friday of every month.
  17. HE is in the process of strengthening accounting, budgeting, revenue and expenditure management, internal controls and other areas of public finance by completing the review of the Public Finance Management Act of 2003 during the 2020/2021 fiscal year.
  18. HE has changed policies regarding Government bank accounts. Before, Government had numerous bank accounts which made it difficult to manage and also to trace with precision Government’s cash position at any given point in time. The Treasury Single Account will provide a consolidated cash position with a clear overview of all cash flows in and out of the accounts.
  19. HE increased the Constituency Development Fund from K30.0 million to K40.0 million to ensure more developments in constituencies.
  20. HE has made sure that these projects, under education are also fast tracked;
    i. Construction of Teachers Training Colleges for Primary School Teachers in Rumphi, Mchinji and Chikwawa;
    ii. Construction of Science Laboratories and Libraries in 29 sites across the country;
    iii. Construction of a new Mzuzu University Library;
    iv. Expansion and Rehabilitation of two Lecture Theaters, two Library floors and refurbishment of a 20 special needs resource centre at Chancellor College; and
    v. Construction of Teaching Complex and Administration Block for Lilongwe University of Agriculture and Natural Resources.
