Namitete Zitha FC picked up a point away from home after holding Extreme FC to a 1–1 draw in the Mchinji Derby at Owen Malijani on Sunday, 20 September 2026, in a closely contested NBS Bank National Division League encounter.
The visitors made a bright start and broke the deadlock in the 12th minute when Alex Mbewe produced a composed finish after receiving a pass from Precious Mandiwa to put Namitete Zitha FC in front.
Extreme FC responded strongly after the break and restored parity in the 52nd minute through Gregory Mwase, who found the back of the net to make it 1–1.
Both sides pushed for the winning goal in the closing stages, but neither could find the decisive breakthrough as the Mchinji Derby ended with the points shared.
Speaking after the match, Extreme FC coach Dan Ndimkambani felt his side had done enough to claim maximum points but expressed satisfaction with his players’ overall performance.
Meanwhile, Namitete Zitha FC coach Enock Mhone raised concerns over the officiating, questioning some of the referee’s decisions during the encounter.
Mhone further claimed that Extreme FC’s equaliser was scored from an offside position. The draw leaves Extreme FC second on the NBS Bank National Division League table with 21 points from 13 matches, while Namitete Zitha FC sit sixth with 19 points from 13 games.
