A two-year-old boy, identified as Fortune Boko, has died after a metal entrance gate accidentally fell on him in Area 38, Lilongwe.
The incident occurred on September 4, 2026.
According to a report made by the deceased’s father, Christopher Boko, the boy had accompanied his father to the place where he was carrying out his daily errands. While there, Fortune was playing with his friends when the incident occurred.
It is reported that the entrance gate suddenly fell on Fortune and a 14-year-old boy who was also playing nearby. The father was informed about the incident, and efforts were immediately made to rescue the two children.
They were rushed to hospital for medical attention. Unfortunately, Fortune was pronounced dead upon arrival, while the 14-year-old boy was treated as an outpatient.
The deceased hailed from Kapesi Village, under Traditional Authority Kasumbu in Dedza District.
