Man arrested over motorcycle robbery

Police at Kawale in Lilongwe have arrested a 21-year-old man, Abel Ackimu, of Mwadyakale Village under Traditional Authority Tsabango in Lilongwe, for allegedly robbing a kabaza operator of his Lifan motorcycle.

According to police records, on August 24, 2026, Ackimu posed as a customer and hired a motorcycle operated by Mr Samuel Gerald from Area 23 to Area 44. However, while on their way, the suspect allegedly attacked the operator and successfully robbed him of the motorcycle.

Following the report, detectives launched investigations which led to the suspect’s arrest a few days later. The stolen motorcycle was subsequently recovered in Area 36 on August 31, 2026.

Police in the area have advised kabaza operators to exercise caution when carrying passengers, particularly during late hours, to avoid falling victim to similar incidents.
