OC Kawale urges communities to report security hazards, four Grenade devices retrieved

Kawale Police Officer In-Charge Mr Davie Chiralire, DCP has commended Area 23 community members over security tips usage.

Police in the area have been conducting various meetings to share security tips, specifically on unexploded explosives devices that were discovered in area 23.

On September 4 this year, the Station organized a football bonanza at Chiuzira ground as a tool to bring awareness to Area 23 residents following incidents where explosives were discovered at a graveyard and some were being offered for sale to scrap metal dealers.

It is from this background that villagers at Khundi 1 on November 17, 2025 sought indulgence of Kawale Police after seeing strange objects, Grenade devices being carried by a young child.

Mr Davie Chilalire, together with Explosive eperts from National Police Headquarters Counter Terrorism and Explosives Branch visited the scene and retrieved four (4) explosive devices that were in a field.

So far, police findings have discovered that the devices have the capacity to explode and cause injury. The Officer in Charge, therefore, advised that such items must be treated as dangerous weapons. If ever any person sees any suspicious metallic objects, they should not touch them but inform police.

He however, assured the communities of it’s committiment to ensure peace and safety in the area as investigations are still underway to find source and clear any remaining items.
