FCB Nyasa Big Bullets FC are the first team to secure a place in the Airtel Top 8 semifinals following a hard-fought return-leg victory over Creck Sporting Club.

The decisive moment came in the 28th minute when Maxwell Gastin Phodo scored after connecting with a well-delivered assist from Henry Chiwaya. Bullets maintained their narrow lead with solid defending until the final whistle.

Speaking after the match, FCB Nyasa Big Bullets head coach Peter Mponda acknowledged the strong resistance from Creck Sporting but said his side managed to withstand the pressure. “Creck Sporting gave us a good fight, but unfortunately, they ran out of steam,” Mponda said.

Meanwhile, Creck Sporting Club coach Joseph Kamwendo admitted that his players lacked confidence but expressed optimism about the team’s future. “We didn’t show enough belief today, but sooner or later, the results will come,” Kamwendo stated.

The first leg between the two sides had ended in a goalless draw at Kamuzu Stadium.

FCB Nyasa Big Bullets will now face the winner of the semifinal clash between Karonga United FC and Mighty Wanderers FC.

Karonga United FC will host Mighty Wanderers FC in the second leg on Sunday, 27th April 2025, at Karonga Stadium, after losing 1-0 in the first leg played at Kamuzu Stadium.
