One of the former senior members of the Democratic Progressive Party (DPP), Ken Msonda, has joined the Malawi Congress Party (MCP).
Msonda officially joined the MCP in Mzuzu in supporting the leadership of Dr. Lazarus Chakwera.

He was welcomed into the MCP by prominent chiefs from Rumphi, including paramount chief Chikulamayembe.
In his speech, Msonda emphasized that the MCP is a progressive party that champions democratic ideals and fosters inclusive development across the country.
Among those present at the event were Harry Mkandawire, Ken Zikhale Ng’oma, as Party’s strategists and one of the party’s governors in the north, Kezzie Msukwa.

Ken Nsonda, who once professed his support for Prof Peter Mutharika’s administration, claiming he was a good leader surrounded by misguided advisors, has now joined the Malawi Congress Party (MCP) after being ousted from the Democratic Progressive Party (DPP).
In various forums, Nsonda expressed his belief that Mutharika should step aside to make room for new leadership within the DPP. His recent interview with Zodiak emphasized this stance.
However, Nsonda’s decision to join the MCP has sparked speculation about whether it was motivated by a desire to support Dr. Chakwera or to seek revenge against his former party, the DPP.
