In the world of football, stories of determination and perseverance often shine the brightest. One such tale is that of Gabriel Banda, a talented young player with aspirations as vast as the African horizon. Born Gabriel Kalema, he made a pivotal change in his life by adopting the surname Banda, a name now echoing in the footballing circles of both Malawi and Zambia.
Gabriel’s journey into football commenced at the tender age of 14 when he laced up his boots for Jenda United FC in his native Malawi. His early promise soon saw him venture to other Malawian clubs, including Kabwafu FC, Luwawa FC, and Mzimba United FC. But it was the call of new horizons that led him across the border to Zambia, where he joined Lundazi United FC and later made a mark at Katete Rangers FC.
It was at Katete Rangers that Gabriel Banda’s star truly began to shine. His exceptional performances caught the attention of scouts, and he earned a spot in the elite league with Kabwe Worries FC in Zambia. This move marked a significant step in his burgeoning career, with his talent now showcased on a bigger stage.

In 2019, Gabriel’s skills were acknowledged further when he received the call to join Zambia’s Under-17 squad for preparations. It was a testament to his dedication and the recognition of his potential as a footballing gem.
Positioned as a natural left-back defender, Gabriel Banda exhibits a prowess that extends beyond his years. Currently plying his trade for Kabwe Warriors FC alongside fellow talent Chifundo Mphasa, he continues to hone his craft, aiming for excellence with every match played. Gabriel’s dream remains unwavering—to don the national colors of Malawi as a member of the Flames.
