Man jailed 2-years lHL for breaking into barbershop

The Mponela Second Grade Magistrate Court has on November 9, 2022 convicted and sentenced Boniface Masonjola, 30, to 2-years imprisonment with hard labour for the offence of breaking into building and committing a ferony therein.

The court heard through prosecutor Sergeant Lucy Mkokamasa that on the night of October 19, 2022 the convict broke into a barbershop of a certain man (name with heard) at Dambalika Trading Centre and went away with assorted items including two solar panels (150 and 50 watts), two invertors, sub-woofer, speaker and three hair cut machines, all items worthy K270,000.

Appearing in court Masonjola pleaded guilty to the charge of breaking into building and committing a ferony therein which contraveness section 311 (2) of the penal code.

Prosecutor Mkokamasa pleaded for a stiffer sentence to act as a lesson for other would be offenders.

Passing sentence Second Grade Magistrate Davie Mpakani concurred with the state hence sentenced him to 2-years imprisonment with hard labour.

Masonjola hails from Gamba Village, Traditional Authority Chilooko in Ntchisi District.
