A police officer and two other people on Saturday afternoon survived a car accident in Dowa District.
According to Dowa Police Publicist, Gladson M’bumpha, the accident happened at Atiel Private School along Lilongwe-Kasungu Road and involved a police service motor vehicle registration number MP 2684 Toyota Land Cruiser Pick-up driven by a police officer from Mzuzu Police Station and a motor vehicle registration number MHG 5627 Toyota Axio Saloon driven by MDF officer from Kamuzu Barracks.
M’bumpha said at the particular time around 15:30 hours, the driver of the police service vehicle was driving from the direction of Lilongwe heading to Mzuzu with two passengers on board.

Upon arrival at Atiel Private School, the MDF officer started overtaking the police service vehicle and in the process of overtaking, he hit behind the police service vehicle.
Following the impact, the police service vehicle swerved to the nearside verge and overturned.
A police officer sustained a cut on the forehead on both arms while two other people sustained cuts on their foreheads and the MDF officer escaped unhurt.
The police service vehicle cab got extensively damaged.
Similarly, the Toyota Axio had its offside fender and lens damaged.
Police have since urged motorists to be cautious whenever they decide to overtake another vehicle on the roads of Malawi.
