Malawi head coach Marian Mario Marinica has disclosed that his charges are ready for the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations not to participate but to compete.
Marinica made this sentiment in Saudi Arabia where the Flames had a 10 day camp ahead of Africa Cup of Nations which will start on January 9, 2022 in Cameroon.
This is third time for Malawi to qualify for Africa Cup of Nations, Flames first qualified in 1984, under Henry Moyo as head coach and later the post was overtaken by an expatriate Danny Maclennan. The 1984 AFCON took place in Ivory Coast.
In addition to that, Malawi also qualified in 2010 under Kinnah phiri and participated in the game where Angola was the host
The Flames today January 5, 2022 is expected to fly out of Jeddah, Saudi Arabia for Cameroon via Addis Ababa, Ethiopia ahead of the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations Finals which kicks off on Sunday.
