Kawale Police warns Mdondwe villagers on mob justice.

Kawale Police Station through its Community Policing branch on Tuesday, December 14, 2021 invaded Mdondwe village with eye opening tips against taking the law into their own hands, mob justice and other issues .

Speaking during the meeting, Senior Superintendent Goodwin Chigalu Sambo, Kawale Station Officer (S/O) charged villagers to refrain from taking the law into their own hands.

If you catch any suspected criminal don’t kill but bring him in the hands of law enforcers.

“Citizen arrest is welcome but don’t take judgemental role, bring all suspects to Police for the law to take it’s course” Sambo emphasized.

Furthermore the villagers were warned of child marriages, Gender based violence and know your neighbor concept.

Echoing on mob justice, Kawale Community Policing Coordinator, Inspector Thoko Mkwezalamba lamented the tendency of killing the elderly people more especially as we are approaching rainy season on accusation of holding rain through witchcraft.

As one way of strengthening neighborhood watches, the team donated various items such as reflective vest and torches .

Speaking earlier, Sub Inspector John Namowa, Officer in charge for Kang’oma Police unit hailed villagers for the cordial relationship enjoyed in the area .

Senior group village headman Mdondwe was grateful for the support rendered to community policing forum citing that it has energized the team

Over fifteen (15) Traditional leaders attended the meeting.
